The cook flees the filthy kitchen
While on the counter an old man
Spreads photos from a time long ago
To prove that childhood had once been his.At the rear sits a mother with her young son
And daughter waiting for Daddy to come back.
Outside, in the cool night,
An engine revs. Nostrils flaring,The teenage waiter removes her apron,
Unclasps her thick hair.
All eyes are on her as she walks through
The door on the long legs she’s been given.
